If you’re like most people, you probably don’t think about your nervous system all that often. But did you know that it’s responsible for every body function, from regulating your heart rate to controlling digestion? That’s why it’s important to keep your nervous system in good health – and the best way to do that is by regularly testing its function. So how do we test the health of your nervous system? There are a few different ways to test the function of your nervous system. One of the most effective ways, we’ve found, is by utilizing our CLA Insight technology. This state-of-the-art system uses a combination of sensors and algorithms to provide an in-depth look at your nervous system function. By looking at things like electrical activity, skin conductance, and muscle tension, we can get a pretty good idea of how well your nervous system is functioning. Let me dive a little deeper and explain this three part test.
The neuroPULSE
The neuroPULSE test is the first part of our CLA Insight system. It scans heart rate, temperature and anxiety simultaneously, to calculate Heart Rate Variability (HRV). It uses HRV to measure balance and activity levels of the Autonomic Nervous System and shows how stress affects the balance and amount of adaptive reserve in a patient’s nervous system. Lifestyle stress impacts a patient’s ability to adapt. Heart Rate Variability (HRV) testing is today’s gold standard to analyze the overall effects of stress and anxiety in patients of any age. This test is a great indicator of your nervous system function. A high HRV score means that your nervous system is functioning well, while a low score indicates that there may be some issues.
The neuroCORE
The neuroCORE test is the second part of our CLA Insight system. This static EMG test accurately measures spinal muscle tone showing how exhausting postural shifts and subluxations can be. A postural shift, or subluxation causes nerve pressure, or pressure upon the nervous system. This nerve pressure has a direct negative effect on that nerve’s impulse, resulting in overactive or exhausted spinal musculature among other things. This fast and reliable test allows us to pinpoint overactive or exhausted neuromuscular areas, which may be related to a patient’s overall declining state of health.
The neuroTHERMAL
The neuroTHERMAL test is the third part of our CLA Insight system. This test uses infrared thermography to measure skin temperature differentials, which can be an indication of autonomic nervous system imbalance, or dysautonomia. When the body is under stress, the nervous system initiates a “fight or flight” response. This response is meant to help us deal with a stressful situation, but when it’s constantly activated (as it is in many of us today), it can lead to a number of health problems. One of the ways this manifests is through changes in skin temperature. When the body is under stress, blood flow is redirected away from the extremities and towards the vital organs, leading to a drop in skin temperature. This test is a great way to see if your body is constantly under stress, and if so, how severe that stress is. These are just a few of the ways we test the function of your nervous system.
