STRESS
Stress comes in many different forms and affects everyone in different ways. We categorize them into physical, chemical, and emotional stressors. Most people understand emotional stress. This comes with our job, responsibilities, and deadlines. But it also happens with our relationships, our family, financials, or trying to decide which shoes match your outfit best. Secondly, people tend to understand the effects of physical stress. Although some physical stress is good, such as lifting weights and exercising, other forms are not so good, such as car accidents and sports injuries. Other small forms of physical stress include poor posture, our kids carrying heavy backpacks, and simply sitting down all day. Lastly, the least known is chemical stress. We are surrounded by chemical toxins that act as stressors to our body. These include the air we breathe, foods we eat, fragrances, soaps, and products we use on our body.
An overload of these stressors keeps our body in a sympathetic, or “fight-or-flight” mode. In this stage, our bodies are constantly fighting and breaking down. Over time, this leads to various symptoms and diseases in the body. Our goal is to help balance the nervous system, to get you out of the “fight-or-flight” mode, and to help decrease the effects of stress.
